I'm a huge fan of farmers markets. I love walking through them, seeing all the different foods & vibrant colors, tasting things I've never tried, I can even have lunch. The freshness of it all excites me!
Of course I know the thought of food shopping doesn't affect everyone quite the way it does me and it really doesn't have to, but you do have to eat well. Whether you love the process or not, the bottom line is you need to end up with healthy food on your plate. The choice is yours how it gets there but I do advocate making friends with your kitchen if you want to get a real handle on your health.
Don't know how to cook? Problem solved... buy a cookbook! Then get
shopping. If you're local to LA, this is a great link to find a few certified
organic markets http://www.farmernet.com/ and if not, finding one is as simple as a Google search.
Decide to have some fun and get cooking. Make it your Saturday ritual where you and your friends create dinner from whatever was found at the market that day. Still not sold on the whole shopping thing? Again, problem solved... you can make it even easier by joining a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). A local farm will pack a box of fruit, vegetables, dairy products, and breads for you and deliver either to your door or to a local market. You simply swing by to pick it up. You choose the frequency and size of the box. How easy??
Now, go create yourself sexy in the kitchen!
